Alternative Forms of Insulation

For most projects, spray foam is our preferred insulation method, but there may be better options for some circumstances. It’s typically the best for new home builds as it can be evenly and precisely applied to cavities. However, in some circumstances, we’ll also recommend insulation batts or blow-in insulation.

Ceiling Batts

Insulation batts are a preferred method to insulate ceilings. They’re versatile and can make excellent insulation for ceilings when placed by a trained installer. Batts can also help reduce noise, making for a more quiet and peaceful living space. 

Batts come in different densities and materials, each ideal for specific circumstances. We prefer to insulate ceilings with batts due to their cost-effectiveness and ease of change. Our team can offer you a wide range of batts, each of which can be customised to maximise your home’s thermal efficiency.

Blow-In Insulation for Existing Properties

While we’ll usually recommend spray foam for insulating the walls of a property, retrofitting an existing home with spray foam can be challenging. Spray foam is best applied with complete access to a wall cavity, allowing our staff full control of desired thickness and location. This, however, is highly challenging for existing buildings and usually requires damage to your walls to have the access we need to make the project a success.

Blow-in insulation is an excellent option for retrofitting the walls of an existing home with an energy-efficient and cost-effective solution. It works by drilling a tiny hole into your wall before injecting the cavity with cellulose or fibreglass, forming a compact thermal barrier. Once finished, the hole is cleanly patched with plaster in a few minutes, leaving your wall smooth and intact.
